Ścibior, Seweryn

Biography

b. in 1980 in Warsaw - philosopher and composer. He studied composition with Prof. Marian Borkowski in the F. Chopin Music Academy (now - the University of Music) in Warsaw, and, simultaneously - philosophy with Prof. Jacek Juliusz Jadacki, Ph.D. and Prof. Jerzy Pelc, Ph.D. at the University of Warsaw, specialising in logical semiotics (master's degree, then - doctoral studies).
Seweryn Ścibior's compositions have been performed at numerous festivals in Poland as well as abroad, e.g. during the Gaude Mater in Częstochowa (2003), the 12th (2005) and 13th (2006) International Laboratory of Contemporary Music in Warsaw, and the Year of Polish Culture in France (2004). A selection of his electronic pieces were presented e.g. during the Synthèse Festival in Bourges (2006) and the Festival of Contemporary Music Archipel in Geneva (2007). In 2008, his Mirage appeared on a CD recorded by the contemporary music ensemble Kwartludium.
The composer works in the publishing line, in the media and public relations. He dedicates himself to composition only in his free time. At present, he is finishing a socrealist "opera for the masses" based on Mikhail Bulgakov's The Crimson Island.
