Grzegorz Duchnowski, b. 1971, graduated in composition from the G. and K. Bacewicz Music Academy in Łódź after studies with Sławomir Kaczorowski and Krzysztof Knittel. A ZAIKS Authors’ Association scholarship holder, a member of the Polish Composers’ Union and ZAIKS Authors’ Association.
Awarded in competitions for composers:
an honorable mention in the 44th T. Baird Competition for Composers in 2002;
4th prize in the 10th International K. Serocki Competition for Composers in 2006;
3rd prize in the Silesian Rostrum of Composers in 2005;
3rd prize in the 2nd International G. Bacewicz Competition for Composers in 2006;
2nd prize and an honorable mention in the 46th T. Baird Competition for Composers in 2005;
2nd prize in the Kosciuszko Foundation Competition for Composers in New York, 2006;
1st and 3rd prizes as well as four honorable mentions in the 2nd Competition for a March for Brass Band organised by the Minister of Defence in 2008;
2nd prize in the International Competition for Composers Reinl-Preis 2008 in Vienna;
2nd prize in the Probaltica Competition for Composers in 2008.
