Pär Frid (born in Stockholm, Sweden in 1977) works in intersectional areas between sound, temporality and space using different media. Pär's works often emerge from questions and ponderings inspired by architecture, mathematics, optical and sounding phenomena, human existence and mind. Recently his interest has been drawn to sophisticated networks of spectral tracking of acoustic signals deriving from endangered languages and ecosystems. Pär Frid's musical compositions have been played throughout Europe by musicians and constellations such as KammarensembleN in Stockholm, Nieuw Ensemble Amsterdam, Norway Radio Orchestra, Musica Vitae Chamber Orchestra, Stockholm New Chamber Orchestra, the violinist Hae Sun Kang (Ensemble Intercontemporain), the virtuosic double bass player Barry Guy and many more. He obtained his Master of Fine Arts in Composition in 2002 after studies at the Gothenburg University School of Music and Musicology and at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et Danse de Paris. He also completed the composition and computer music course Cursus at IRCAM in Paris with full scholarship from the French State and the Swedish Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm in 2003-04. Forthcoming projects include a number of commissions from musicians and co-operation partners around Europe. Among them a commission for New European Ensemble in Holland, a new collaboration with Stockholm Saxophone Quartett, a new commission from the Sonanza Ensemble in Stockholm and furthermore new works for the duo Maya Homburger & Barry Guy in Zürich. At present Pär Frid is particularly involved with interdisciplinary projects and ideas. He has made several projects in close collaboration with the Swedish glass artists Ahlin & Lehtonen. In september 2009 he made a light and sound installation together with the Marks Blond gallery in Berlin. He also curated the fashion company Julian Reds Fashion show in January 2009. In 2009 he received funding for the augumented architectural project Architecture as Interface. In spring 2007 he worked on a commission at the Experimentalstudio, SWR in Freiburg and in 2010 this 30 minute piece will hopefully be premiered by Ensemble Recherche. His piece Déjà vu, over and over again recorded by Chamber Ensemble Sonanza releesed on CD Unheard of Again at Phono Suecia won the Swedish Grammy Award in 2010.
