Janssens, Daan

Biography

Daan Janssens studied violin, piano and music theory at the Bruges music academy. Between 2002 and 2007 he studied composition at the Ghent Royal Conservatory with Frank Nuyts, Filip Rathé and Godfried -Willem Raes.

In 2006, his string quartet ...Passages... (2005) won the first prize at the Week of Contempory Music (Ghent, 2006). His music has been performed at the TRANSIT festival (Leuven, 2005 & 2008), De Link (Tilburg, 2007) and De Nieuwe Reeks (Leuven). He has worked with ensembles including the Goeyvaerts strijktrio, Bl!ndman junior [4x4 ] strings, the Spectra ensemble, soloist Jean-Guihen Queyras...

Daan is conductor and co-founder of the Nadar Ensemble. Since 2007, he works as researcher at the University College Ghent.
