Petra Oliveira-Bachratá studied composition with professor Ladislav Burlas (1992 – 1993). After that absolved Faculty of Medicine of the Comenius University in Bratislava (1993 – 1999) and also composition at the Academy of Music and Drama in Bratislava with professor Vladimír Bokes (994 – 2000). In
1997 participated in composition courses (IRCAM Paris, France with Ivan Fedele, Szombathely, Hungary with Brian Ferneyhough, Reichenau with Ivana Loudová). In 1999 and 2000 participated in the International Composition and Interpretation Project Music Without Borders in the Heart of Europe. Since 2000 worked as a doctor at the 1st Neurological Clinic of the Faculty Hospital in Bratislava. In 2001 absolved summer courses of composition and electroacoustic music Paris IRCAM with Brian Ferneyhough, Johnatan Harvey and Marc André Dalbavie. 2002 became member of the composer´s commitee of the Music Fund Bratislava. Cooperated with percussionist Pedro Carneiro (2004), won a commission of composition for the project and CD Music for Marimba and Computer. Since 2005 attends a PhD study of composition and electroacoustic music at the University Aveiro in Portugal. Participated in the 1st Symposium on Cognition and Musical Arts (Curitiba, Brasilia), connected
to a lecture and performing of her work. Between 2005 - 2007 premiered compositions within the famous festivals - ICMC 2005 Barcelona, ICMC 2006 New Orleans, Havana Spring (Cuba), Ai Maako (Santiago de Chile), Visiones Sonoras (Mexico), International Festival of Acousmatic Music (Cagliari, Italy), Cycle de concerts université Paris VIII (France), Musica Viva (Portugal), Festival de Outono Aveiro (Portugal), Confluencias (Spain), Keele University Music Series (Great Britain), Musica Nova (Czech Republic) etc. In 2006 got an PhD stipendium from Fundação para Ciência e Technologia, Lisboa. With the piece Mystic Garden became a finalist of the International competition of the electronic music "Pierre Schaeffer", Pescara, Italy (2007) and in 2008 won the 2nd prize at the international competition 3. Concurso Internacional de Povoa de Varzim, category "orchestral work" with composition What if?.
