Biography

Studies in composition with Karl Aage Rasmussen and Bent Sørensen at the Royal Academy of Music, Arhus, 1998-2003. Studies with Mathias Spahlinger at Staatliche Hochschule für Musik, Freiburg, Germany, 2001/2002.
Studies with Gabriel Valverde at CEAMC in Buenos Aires, Argentina, 2003/2004. Post-grade studies with Bent Sorensen and Hans Abrahamsen at the Royal Academy of Music in Copenhagen, 2004-2006 - graduated with the highest honours. 1st prize winner with String Quartet in the Holmboe Competition 2000. Praesens awarded a prize by The Danish Arts Foundation 2002. Received working grants from the Danish Arts Foundation 2003 and 2004. Received the "Bisballe Prize" as "Artist of the Year", 2005, and a grant from the Léonie Sonning Music Foundation, 2006. Received The Danish Arts Foundation's "Three Year Grant", 2006. Received a "Scolarship Prize" at the "Darmstadt Ferienkurse", 2006. Finalist in Confluencias (Spain) EA Miniature Competition with Electro Miniature, 2006. 1st prize winner in "Presence China 2008" with Ouvertures. Received the "Kranichsteiner Prize" at the "Darmstadt International Summer Courses for New Music", 2008. Composer in Residence with Aalborg Symphony Orchestra, 2004/2005. Composer in Residence with Athelas Sinfonietta Copenhagen, 2006-2007. Residency at HOTELbich/NADINE in Brussel, December 2008. Selected for the Ensemble Modern Internation Composition Seminar, 2006/2007. Selected for the Voix Nouvelles workshop with Brian Ferneyhough, Royaumont, France, 2007. String Quartet and Praesens chosen by Danish National Radio for the International Radio Rostrum Festival, 2001 and 2005. in-side-out-side-in..., Amongst, loloopop and Ouvertures selected by the danish ISCM jury, 2003, 2006, 2007 and 2008. Works performed and broadcasted in more than 20 countries. Co-director for the magazine for new art music, AUTOGRAF.org. Published articles in AUTOGRAF, Dansk Musik Tidsskrift and Parergon (N). Co-founder and member of the board of the SPOR Festival, 2004-2006.
Teaching history for composers at the Royal Academy of Music in Arhus, 2004-2005. Teaching composition at the Royal Academy of Music in Arhus, 2008-2009. Did lectures and seminars at the Music Academies of Freiburg, Stockholm and Gothenburg, the University of Arhus, CEAMC (ARG) and the Holmboe Festival and more.
