Information

Oslo Sinfonietta was established in 1986 by composer Asbjørn Schaathun and is today the oldest existing contemporary music ensemble in Norway. Christian Eggen is the ensemble’s principal conductor and artistic director. Oslo Sinfonietta is organised as a pool of musicians and draws its members from Norway’s leading orchestras, including the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, the Norwegian Opera Orchestra, the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra, the Norwegian Radio Orchestra, and from among freelance musicans.Oslo Sinfonietta is supported by the Arts Council Norway and the City of Oslo.

Participation

The Sinfonietta has played several concerts at both national and international festivals, such as The Composers Biennale in Copenhagen, Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival and the Athens Festival in Greece.
