TRANSIT FESTIVAL
Champ d'Action will be conducted during this edition of
the Transit Festival by the Lithuanian composer and conductor Vykintas
Baltakas, who lives in Leuven (Belgium) since 2008. In each of his new pieces
Baltakas defines new musical criteria. Specifically for the Transit Festival
and Champ d'Action he wrote a new composition for ensemble.
The artistic output of the Belgian composer Stefan Prins
is also continuously changing. Champ d'Action brings the Belgian premiere of
Prins new piece, which he composed for his Staubach Award at the
Internationales Institut Musik Darmstadt, which premiered in July 2010.
With his Scandinavian ingenuity Simon Steen Andersen
seems to fit perfect with the other two composers. In his "Chambered Music
' Andersen uses text from Mandela's prison diary, asks musicians to play
backstage and uses the sound of metronomes that are hidden in crates on stage.
