For the past seven weeks Danish composition music has been on sale as downloads at www.dacapo-records.dk - Denmark´s national record label spezializing in Danish classical music. Various digital formats are available for download both MP3 format, 16-bit files that have the same sound quality as a CD, and even in some cases 24-bit files that can provide a sound quality far above the standard of an ordinary CD. This is a great step forward for the circulation of new music across borders.

Danish music is sold now to countries like the USA, the UK and Germany, and there have even been customers in Dacapo´s new Music Store from countries as India, South Africa and Japan. There has been an especial increase in interest in the very „narrow‟ genres such as electronic composition music, spearheaded by Else Marie Pade and experimental works like Per Nørgaard‟s operas Siddharta and Gilgamesh. It is now possible to bring new music by Danish composers out, without having to worry about postage and dispatch over national boundaries.

Dacapo Records was founded in 1989 and since then has specialized in and made its name on the wide-ranging Danish classical music scene. Dacapo Records’ catalogue lists more than 400 releases with some of Denmark‟s best artists. www.dacapo-records.dk
